National Body for Life Saving and Water Safety

The Life Saving Association of Sri Lanka (LSASL) is the National body for life saving and Water Safety activities in Sri Lanka. It is affiliated to the International Life Saving Federation (ILS), Commonwealth Royal Life Saving (UK) and International Maritime Rescue Federation (UK). The LSASL is registered with the Ministry Sports, Health and Disaster Management Center of Sri Lanka. It is an approved Charity Registered under Sec 31 (9) of the Inland Revenue Act (ACT/9/87/20).
Our main objective is to reduce drowning and water related accidents within the country. Till to date, our recorded rescues stand more than 4000 lives. The Association holds a proud record of training nearly one million members of public including school children, armed forces and police force, all free of charge.
The Association has obtained the ILS standards achieving the ILS equivalency, continuously engaging with this humanitarian service for a period of well over 70 years.
